Recently, there has been a good deal of investigation by the
US Federal trade comission against bloggers and website owners
for not publishing advertising profits, or existing
connections with ad networks.

What are your ideas concerning how this could potentially hurt
the blog community?

Another thing I love in Vista which MAC doesn’t do is– I can rewrite into an existing CD if it has empty space. It is doesn’t require that the CD has to be rewritable. In Vista you just drag the file and drop into CD drive, it gets written there. But in MAC it says “u can not write into this CD, this is not a rewritable one”

Hey, thanks Abhishek! that’s a great find!
I think this model for money-related transactions will be a hit with the Indian masses.

The Indian mobile market has baffled the telecom players worldwide. Only a few have been able to be successful in such a diverse culture (ex. Nokia). The HelloMoney model could be just the thing for Indians.

It seems quite fascinating how the mbanking is taking a grip of the Indian banking customers. I too read this article and went ahead to find out about the security measures while making bank transactions, and then I came across Barclays Hello Money which completely works on USSD which means that there is no sms, no gprs involved. More intresting things can be found at http://www.barclays.co.in/hellomoney

First of all, thanks for commenting on my post!

Am a meebo fan for almost three year now and I love the innovation that they have brought to the web IM space.

My post comes from the observations that companies like flickr, del.icio.us did not start with UX in mind (and still did great!) but as they grew, they realized its an indispensable part of their product. Its just that a dedicated person is there to hold the fort at the user’s end and I am happy about it. And you will find my suggestions to improving Meebo in the comments to your posts :)

I was equally thrilled after reading your first post as when I read about Meebo’s first usability testing two years back (http://blog.meebo.com/?p=163).

As for being blogged by a complete starnger, I think as a Meebo UX designer, you’re now a famous public figure :) so you can happily get used to it!

In meebo’s defense, it’s not as if they were a company stuck in the dark ages until they saw the light of UXD and hired me. Meebo right now is growing at an astounding rate – they’re looking for as many talented people as they can get to fill an increasing number of specialized roles.

The front-end team used to just do UXD as they went along, and they did an incredible job. But as more and more projects come down the pipeline, they get to front-end code full time, and I get to UXD full time. :)

I suppose you could make the argument that having 30+ people working for you before you hire a single UX Designer says something about one’s priorities, but I’d posit that the front-end folks at meebo are capable enough in the UXD realm that such an argument doesn’t really apply. But then, I’m biased. :)

Very interesting post.. its like reading the reviews before watching a movie.
I read the comments first
- when I am unsure of the source of an article,
- when I am reading a food recipe,
- when the article gives a solution to a problem,
- if the article is very long
- elsewhere when i need the efficacy of the information the article is offering
- when I read a review of a book, film,etc.
